iNovel - The Experiment

Logo

I have a dream. I'd like to develop, write, and publish a novel under a collaborative effort of anyone who wants to participate. The novel will be will be written by us and most likely will be a thriller. Think about it, 10, 100, maybe even 1,000 people collaborating on the complete development of a fiction novel, and actually having it published. This could be one of the most entertaining writing experiences you'll ever be a part of. Does this sound interesting, fun, and maybe even crazy? I think so. I'll be developing the infrastructure required to allow as many people who choose to participate to develop collaboratively a novel from scratch to completion. I'm calling it the iNovel experiment.

It will take me some time to set up the infrastructure to allow people to chat, recommend, add content, vote, etc. I also need to decide the best way to set this up. There's no doubt with many people participating that there will be major differences of opinions and the manner in how they are resolved will be a challenge. If I set up a core group of people who are the final decision makers, then it won't truly be a collaborative effort. There will have to be manner to allow participants to vote on content adds or changes, plot ideas, character development, etc.

This will be a organizational challenge, but I'm up for it if people are up for participating.

So, if this sounds interesting and you'd like to be part of it, send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   with "I want to be part of the iNovel experiment" in the subject line.

Check back occasionally for updates and status checks on the setup of the infrastructure.

Come on, this will be fun.

Update

I've added a nice forum package to the site where we can talk about the iNovel experiment. Click Steven Mather's Community to access the forum. For now, you'll need to register in order to post comments (I think). Eventually, I'll have the registration of the forum and my main site bridged and sychronized and the same login and password will grant you access to everything. Please check it out.
