My goal for this web site is obviously for marketing of my works however, I do have a secondary desire. I have always been the type of person who likes to see others succeed at entrepreneurial or challenging ventures. Who do I try to help? As an aspiring author myself, my first target to assist was others like me. I was offered a contract to publish my debut novel Three of a Kind in November of 2007 and finally accepted in January of 2008. My publisher was a small, independent organization just starting up with a stable of about six authors and fourteen titles. I knew going in that the marketing efforts and costs would primarily be my responsibilities, which I was fine with because I have a business background and marketing excites me. All that I required was basic ideas, outlets, and contact information.
About seventy days prior to my publication date—which would have been August 28th, 2008—I began to start building my marketing plan and doing research on marketing and distribution. What I learned caused the usual thing to happen when we tackle a problem with limited knowledge; I had more questions than answers. What I learned surprised me and eventually led to me canceling my contract to publish. It also prompted me to write an industry study titled The Future of Publishing that I offer for sale. The future of publishing is changing and will change faster than many believe.I eventually decided that the secondary goal of this website should be to educate the beginning author, although there might be a few things a published author might find beneficial. I will be adding knowledge, discoveries, and links to helpful sites. Take this journey with me to the best sellers list. Yes, that’s my goal; why not think big. I’ll provide resources for the author, but save the best stuff for site members. So if you want access to all of it, join my website, it’s free, and I won’t share or sell my email list to any organization. Write on… |
